Are the JWs were you are getting worked up over having a to go bag (Armageddon bag) ready?
by life is to short inok where i live in the pacific northwest in january of this year this elder from the hall called a special meeting and gave everyone some papers that he had gotten from some government place on what to put in an emergency bag to grab in case you have to flee your home in seconds.
i thought it was just my husbands hall being all strange and stupid over this.
one older sister said that the elder told everyone they needed three bottles of water for 14 days that is 42 bottles of water plus whatever other stuff they put in there not sure if she got that right because 42 bottles of water is a lot of weight.

Will smartphone/internet access lead to JW declines in Africa?
by doinmypart insamsung expects to grow the african smartphone market up to 20% within a year.
with the smartphone people have greater access to the internet.
i know many of the developing countries in africa have limited infrastructure and access to electricity, but i would think companies like samsung have plans in place to build up the market.. do you think enough phones (and subsequent internet access) will rollout to cause an impact on jw numbers in africa?

did the apostle paul really know jesus ?
by mP ini made a statement to tec, that paul did not know jesus.
in fact i challenge anyone to show from his writings, that he knew about the christ presented in the gospels.
i believe it is fair to say the lord or christ of paul is only mentioned as a spirit being who was ressurrected for us.

Paul's only "claim" to have met JC was when JC "appeared" to him and screwed up Paul's eyes. Paul never met JC. Sure he knew of the movement and was very against it....held the coats of Jew's who stoned Stephen to death. Paul was very legalistic and hijacked the JC thread. If you look closely at his crap and JC words they are very opposed. Paul wrecked a good thing and because of his Jewish education and his forcefullness he overshadowed the remaining apostles (unlettered and ordinary).

What do you think about this?
by OneDayillBeFree inthere's so much going on in my life right now but i'll be posting more about that later.. .
to get straight to the point (i'm actually in the meeting right now) my mother has been very depressed about a lot of things lately.
she is a regular pioneer and is a jw who many think is happy but she's a good faker and knows all to well how to put on a fake smile to cover up her true feelings.

IS GOD REAL? HOW DO YOU KNOW?
by still thinking inthis is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.
in fact, it was a turning point for me.

Anyone can convince themself or be convinced by others because of their personal/emotional/whatever needs. If you are "convinced" of something = believing something. To me that is totally different than "knowing" something. "Believing" needs no proof. My mom, a extremist JW believer made a shocking comment in the WT study years ago. She said that "God" could just be a mass of energy somewhere billions of light years away and not like humans at all. (Thanks to her watching Star Trek on TV). Boy, was she shut down quickly. I really wish people would stop "humanizing" an entity we "know" nothing about. Or if there is an "entity". Maybe it is just a thing...like a cog in a wheel. Why don't we just stop worrying about something we can do or "know" anything about. Just livel

Memorial - Why do i keep going?
by maisha inevery year i attend, missing only 5 in 50 years.. i do not attend meetings nor active in anyway, my family shun me,(all devote believers) but i do feel drawn to attend each year.
i am out for sure, but i no longer have faith, or a belief in any religous body as being approved by god.. i am so screwed up now i not sure if i believe in a creator!, let alone who or what that may be.. i was born into the truth, married into the truth and my ex is devote.. i could never return to the cult now seeing it for what it is.. i served, donated, slaved for years happy to do so as has all my family.. i went out of my way to get df, sort of a wanting to die act, of rejecting the society.. i used to sit in a movie in my youth and think, wow i am so lucky, all these people are going to die and i will live forever.. even just typing this gives release to my emotions,, lol,,, yea i have many emotions,,, many regrets, basically the organisation i followed and the instructions destroyed my life in every possible way.. the power plays that i witnessed within are what first woke me up,,,at first i let it go, forgiving those involved as brothers do.
but again and again power and position is and was the thing to have, you got the power you got everything.

Well, I went to memorial for a few years. When I realized that the organization had nothing for me but to sit and watch if maybe someone did partake....according to the WT...it is useless waste of time. If you go it's as if there is a game going on, the partakers watch the game having crackers and red wine. you don't see the game but you just sit quietly and watch those watching it. You are not invited to play or watch. Why go?

This is so heartbreaking. I would just send an occasional card with absolutely no references to dogma or anything else religious. Might just say a few things about whats new and what's happening in your lives. Shes a big girl and can stay where she wants. That is not a fault of yours. Good luck.

Interesting. My oldest brother was 10 when my mom devolved from human to jw. He LOVED this movie. I have it but have never watched it. He even had the mask. So, I will watch it and rewatch The Matrix this weekend.
Please have the Apostate Film Festival in Seattle. Nothing EVER happens here. It's a beautiful city rain or no rain.
Thanks for the post.
